World Rankings

26 April 2012

The first of the Majors is done and dusted with Bubba Watson taking The Master’s 2012 Championship title,  now  let’s take a look at the current World Rankings and how recent wins have affected position.

Even though his performance at The Masters was slightly disappointing Rory McIlroy still finds himself in the top 3 of the world rankings. Lee Westwood and Luke Donald, two British players, are currently holding second and third respectively. After his stunning win at The Masters Bubba Watson has flown up from his position at 18 to 4th spot! Fellow American Hunter Mahan who won the Shell Houston Open at the end of March this year (taking him to 4th) has now dropped a place to 5th after failing to hang on to his Round 2 lead at The Masters.

With countless more tournaments to come, including 3 more Majors, it’s going to be an exciting year for the rankings. At Caddyshack Rentals we’ll be keeping a special eye out for our home grown talent of Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel. Louis, who finished second at The Masters after a nail biting playoff with Buubba, has seen a steady rise in position and is now settled in 12th. Charl has unfortunately dropped to 34th but as we know, in golf there are no guarantees and anything and everything  can change in a round.
