2012 World Rankings

3 January 2013

Fans of South African pro golfer Charl Schwartzel will be delighted to hear he completed a stunning fortnight of championship golf en route to his second title in as many weeks at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in December. Thanks to Schwartzel’s run at the end of the year he has found himself steadily climbing the world rankings ending the year at number 14.

Fellow South African Louis Oosthuizen had a fantastic year. With some great performances around the circuit, not to mention 2 championship wins at both the Maybank Malaysian Open and South Africa Open, it’s no surprise we’ve watched Oosthuizen soar up the rankings, rounding off 2012 at number 6 – A vast improvement on this time last year where he resided at number 40!

World Number One Rory McIlroy won the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai to add to his late season wins at the US PGA Championship, Deutsche Bank Championship and the BMW Championship. He ends 2012 with his 21st week of a fourth spell (and his 28th week in total) as World Number One.

The World Rankings Top 10 as of 31st December 2012 are as follows:

1)  Rory McIlroy
2)  Luke Donald
3)  Tiger Woods
4)  Justin Rose
5)  Adam Scott
6)  Louis Oosthuizen
7)  Lee Westwood
